The Cadete Preferente will go for the FBM League title
Torrejón was presented at the Pabellón de Los Almendros de Rivas Vaciamadrid last weekend, to defend the lead obtained in the first leg (+27), against the local team, Uros de Rivas. Tremendous heat in the environment due to the temperature, and in the stands due to the spirited local fans who tried to support their own in the face of such a difficult challenge.
The Preferred Cadet was presented with the casualties of Osvaldo Deocares and Miguel Paredero (due to illness and injury respectively), both already recovered, and who were perfectly replaced by Benjamin Pozo and Alonso Puiggros.
The match began with a good defense by Torrejón that did not allow easy baskets and made it difficult for Uros de Rivas to circulate the ball. Cadete attack in this first quarter had a great success, mostly simple baskets after an enviable movement of the ball, and nullifying the defensive pressure posed by Rivas. This helped the first quarter end with a 14-point lead (6-20). The 2nd quarter began in the same way that the 1st ended, intensity in defense although somewhat less successful in attack. Midway through this quarter, there was a certain relaxation in the boys that caused Rivas to start scoring easy points and Torrejón to commit silly losses that balanced the quarter and ended up winning the local team (22-19) to leave a score of 28-39 to break.
The last two quarters were defined by the continuous arreones by both teams. A partial of the boys, was answered by Uros, and vice versa, although it is true that Torrejón Basketball Academy had the advantage obtained in the first leg, and to win this second game more or less comfortably. That gave him enough poise to temporize and take victory in the final 2 sets (9-10 and 15-16), to finish with a difference of +13 (52-65). Sealed tie and pass to the final achieved, accompanied by a more than deserved promotion.
Basket Veritas awaits us in the final, who lost their first match of the tie by 3 points, but recovered in their home court obtaining an overwhelming victory by 49 points difference. A physical and tough team in defense against which they must give their best both in defense and attack if they want to be the champion of the category. This season special mention must be made of Pelayo Morales, Adrián Arias, Jorge Herrera, Marcos Ortiz, Mikel Soto, Carlos Flores, Benjamin Pozo, Nicolás Aldea, Alonso Puiggros, Leonardo Atencio, David Peral, Aaron Cornejo, Miguel Paredero, Osvaldo Deocares, Alvaro Pacheco and Adrián Cerezo, that is, each and every one of the players who have participated in the competition with this team. Naturally, I would like to thank all the parents and collaborators for the support and time provided to make this excellent season possible. Applause for the work of Tomás Morales and Ángel Paredero in the team threads throughout the season.
