Kingsley Obiekwe will return to play in Italy
The Torrejón de Ardoz native and former Torrejón Basketball Academy stalwart Kingsley Obiekwe Sam will return to Italy to play professionally. The perimeter oriented player measuring close to six foot four inches in stature signed with Herons Basket, of the Serie C Gold of the country of the boot.
Obiekwe comes from an experience playing the LEB Plata with Albacete Basket, with solid averages of 7.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 21 minutes per game, in the third category of the national level in FEB Competitions. He already had a previous professional experience playing in Italy.
The international with his Equatorial Guinea national team had a stellar FIBA debut, burning the nets at FIBA level in the qualifiers for the FIBA Afrobasket 2021 held in Rwanda. He finished the event being the third best scorer in the competition at a rate of 18.3 points per game, shooting almost 50% from the field, and a remarkable 46% from the perimeter - 13-28 3PT. Obiekwe thus becomes one of the marquee signings of the fourth Italian category.
