A player that has been a huge part of our history has returned to Torrejón de Ardoz. If you have been attentive to someone tall in the grounds of the Joaquín Blume Sports Center, or in the most recent National Senior games, then you have already confirmed the open secret.

Gastón Diedhiou is back in the house that saw him emerge as a player. The Senegalese center, six foot ten tall and one of the five Torrejón Basketball Academy graduates to NCAA D-1 in its history already wears dons the blue and yellow again, and has been a factor in reinforcing FBM Playoffs for the dream of achieving promotion to EBA for our squad TECMOON Torrejón.

Diedhiou, who has been a local formative status player since he was recruited by our General Director, David Sánz, at Cadet age, went on to have an important career that led him to debut at a young age even in LEB Plata with the feeder from Morabanc Andorra, as well as steps through the Canarias Basketball Academy before making the leap to the United States. The University of Minnesota graduate played 57 games in his four years of college under Richard Pitino, son of the legendary Rick, and averaged 1 point, 1 rebound in almost 7 minutes on average coming from the bench. Later, after a great experience in the Qatar League where he averaged 7 points and 7 rebounds on average, he returned to Spain and met in Almería with his brother Jean Pascal Diedhou, a great volleyball player, signing in CB Almería of the EBA League.

The native of Dakar promises to give us a plus in the physical under the rim, as well as hit it from range with his remarkable shot from mid and long distance. Already a fixture in the Playoffs series against C.B Getafe where he has been able to debut, Diedhiou left 9 and 10 points respectively. Leveling up to one victory per side, the Quarterfinals are defined next Saturday at the Felipe Reyes pavilion. Whoever wins, advances to the Final Four in Madrid, and would be a little closer to the goal: promotion to the EBA League.

Welcome back, Gastón!
