Junior Preferente makes it to the finals and Benjamín is Regional Champion
The Playoffs in full! Our categories have had different luck in their postseason routes and in #LaCronica we review the action of the last FBM weekends of May 11th and 12th, as well as May 18th and 19th. Let us move on with the summaries and what is coming for our Club:
Champions, champions, OE, OE, OE! The Second Year White Benjamín is champion of the Eastern Region of Madrid after their most recent match on May 12th at the Sonia Abejón Pavilion against Colmenar Viejo (38-15). The Paco Merino-led little kids have shown an intense offensive side, and in defense they have put the bolt in place to achieve this important result. Honorable mention to Benjamín Azul, who lost their game by only one point in the League Quarterfinals, and who have had an exceptional campaign as well.
The First Year Alevín broke their group undefeated with a 5-0, after beating Baloncesto Fuenlabrada B (63-37) at home on May 11th. Great second phase for the children, and we await pairings in the Playoffs.
The First Year Girls Alevín closed the second FBM phase in a good way with Lions Basket Arroyomolinos A this time playing in their pavilion (27-45), winning and finishing with a 3-2 record, behind C.D Estudio in the table.
The Second Year Alevín A has lost the undefeated record this May 11th with Baloncesto Alcobendas B (72-58) playing as visitors. This team surpasses us and finishes leader of the second phase, with us as runners-up with a 3-1 record.
The Second Year Alevín B rose after their negative start to the phase, this May 11th against Lions Basket Arroyomolinos B (44-27) at the Javi Limones. Record of 1-3 in the second FBM phase of this Marco Aldany League.
The Alevín Femenino de Segundo comes with two other defeats under their belt, first visiting on May 11th against Santa María del Pilar (63-37), and then, on May 18th against Club Juventud Alcalá (63-13) with whom they did not we were able to compete. This May 25th we go to Javi Limones at 2:15 p.m. to face Movistar Estudiantes Juana, which is our closest rival in the table.
The First Year Girls Infantil closed the qualifying days in the second division in style on May 11th, against Mejorada 2012 C.B (55-37). They are 4-0 in this part of the season, and the girls must be congratulated without a doubt for this great effort and achieving positive results.
The Infantil Preferente Femenino have had high peaks in their last two dates: first, winning on May 11th against Colmenar Viejo (43-58), and then, narrowly falling (42-45) in a great match also this May 18th against Claudina Thevenet Jesús María at Javi Limones. This May 26th we will have to continue playing at home, at Nuria Fernández at 1:00 p.m. against Colmenar Viejo. Second place in the standings is within reach.
The Infantil de Primer Año B played with everything and had two close falls at this stage of the season: May 12th (31-39) against Distrito Olimpico San Blas at the Javi Limones. Then, on May 18th (52-42) against Isaac Newton A, visiting to finish the phase with little luck, and an important learning for what is to come, in the basement of the table.
First Year Infantil Torrejón Baloncesto has become strong and reached the top of the table in this phase, first this May 11th (47-44) after beating San Ignacio Torrelodones at home. Then, on May 18th, they played a great game visiting C.D Estudio (54-53) and despite losing by just one point, we have secured the lead for what is to come.
The Infantil Preferente has had "collegiate" days, first against Colegio Estudiantes Las Tablas A (55-42) with a great victory this May 15th and then, defeat against Movistar Estudiantes D (47-26) on May 18th as visitors. The tone will continue with the return game against Colegio Estudiantes Las Tablas A, this May 25th at 10:45 in their pavilion. A win would cement our place in second position in the table.
Infantil A continues to add an important competitive touch, since this May 12th, visiting C.B Las Rozas B (50-46) they fell by very little. The match that closes this third phase in Bronze will be on May 26th at 5:30 p.m. at the Nuria Fernández, against Real Canoe B.
The Cadete Girls with two dream days to chain consecutive victories: on May 11th, visiting the Rosas Olympic District (30-31) they closed in a tremendous way to ensure the difficult victory. Then, at home on May 18th, they beat Movistar Estudiantes A resoundingly (61-35) in the morning. We are first in this phase of the season, and this May 25th at 2:15 p.m. we will go to Javi Limones to face Distrito Olimpico Rosas again.
Our Blue Cadet 2009 entered the qualifying round for the fifth division and this May 11th at the Javi Limones they beat Colmenar Viejo D (47-25), to start month number five well. Subsequently, an even more important match was won by far (52-55) against Baloncesto San Fernando Blanco as visitors. Thus, we level our record at 2-2, and we advance to the next weekend when this May 25th at 6:15 p.m. we play against Colmenar Viejo, the bottom of the table.
Cadete Blanco 2009 has been able to add to its qualification and playoffs path, this May 11th against Colegio Miramadrid Paracuellos B at home (49-36), and later, this May 18th (35-47) winning on the road against Raíces Móstoles. Double victory, which temporarily places us as leaders. This May 25th in their pavilion, at 9:30 in the morning we will play against Colegio Miramadrid Paracuellos B.
The Torrejón 2008 B Basketball Cadet has had cruel luck, playing intensely but missing the victory in this qualifying round in the third division this May 11th (45-48), against Veritas Pozuelo. Then, another tight defeat (70-65) visiting Parque Cataluña Torrejón on May 18th. Now, the return game will come against Veritas Pozuelo, visiting, on May 25th at 1:00 p.m.
Cadete Baloncesto Torrejón 2008 A is in the Playoffs in the second division: on May 11th they played well, and won (44-62) at the home of C.B Isaac Newton. Then, we have put a lock on the Round of 16 tie with just enough this May 18th (65-64) against Isaac Newton A, to advance to the Quarterfinals. It will be this May 25th at 12:30 that we will play the first game, against Baloncesto Villalba at the Javi Limones.
Cadet B failed this May 12th at the Javi Limones, against Baloncesto Villalba (51-67) and we finished the phase with a 0-3 record, in third place in Silver.
Cadet A begins the third phase in the reclassification to aspire to fifth place in all of Madrid in Gold this May 12th against Baloncesto Torrelodones A (71-60), winning. Then, another great offensive performance (80-56) made us win against C.B Las Rozas A on May 18th. We hope to maintain this trend when on May 25th, visitors at 2:00 p.m. go to the Spanish Basketball Academy pavilion.
Junior Masc. Preferente tied the key against C.B Pizarro Campus Ávila (75-69), advancing to the Quarterfinals with another victory on May 11th. And what a crazy series we have had against Baloncesto Leganés, first, falling (55-61) at the Sonia Abejón this May 18th, and on May 19th, turning the tie around with a gigantic victory (69-77) that due to a differential of points qualifies us for the league finals, come on! Congratulations to all the stars, to Tomás Morales and his coaching staff. This May 26th, the D-Day. We go into battle against C.B Moratalaz A, at 7:00 p.m.
Junior B could not score on May 12th (84-76) at the home of A.D.C Boadilla A. We finished in second place in the table, in this phase.
Junior A returned to action in the reclassification for places from fifth to eighth in Madrid, against Pablo Laso Academy (77-78) this May 19th at the Javi Limones. An absolute parity against this rival, who finishes sixth in Madrid, winning the overall tie by just one point. Congratulations to Agustín Sánchez for competing in a big way with this group of 2006 and 2007 players, as well as the coaching staff, and a send-off to the graduates from their junior phase towards the senior jump.
The Under-22 Bronze team took out its Playoff tie, first as we had at the home of Colegio Menesiano (52-72), an important victory in the first match of the Round of 16. The second of the series was on May 12th (52-53) and despite the close loss on the visit, it was classified by point differential. The League Quarterfinals began this May 19th, beating C.B Arroyomolinos (63-79) at home. We will hope to put a lock on this, and advance to the finals this May 26th at 3:00 p.m., when we play the return game at the Javi Limones.
The U-22 Oro team became strong again on their way to the Playoffs, winning the first game of their Quarterfinal series (82-58), against Virgen de Atocha at home. Good victory for Nacho Gallego-led team. The return game will be this May 26th, at 12:00 in the rival team pavilion. The two U-22 teams, within reach of reaching the Finals. Rooting for them! It is possible.
And to close this edition, a disappointment result of the National Senior in the VIPS League, which started very well in its Quarterfinal match against C.B Tres Cantos winning, and then could not continue with the final push losing in "straight sets" on May 11th ( 87-62) in the La Luz Pavilion. And then, the mission could not be completed in the third and final game (52-74), falling at the Javi Limones last weekend, saying goodbye to the Final Four FBM with our audience always supporting us. It has been a great year, despite not achieving this goal, and those from Colo Zuttion deserve praise. VIPS League leaders in the regular season, with a steamroller record, and with great sensations that predict that next season this will be improved. We march on.
