Iván Aurrecoechea (1995) has been announced as the new reinforcement of the Movistar Estudiantes LEB Oro team. The Torrejonero player arrives from Bueno Arenas Albacete Basket, where he has been one of the most outstanding national or foreign players of the LEB Oro. The sheriff returns to Estu for his second stint, since he played in the EBA feeder squad a decade ago, before completing his formative years in the United States and playing in other countries.

Aurrecoechea has joined his new camp in Magariños now, after its official announcement by the club. This, given their losses due to injury that the team presents facing the final stretch of the year, the Playoffs and the search for promotion to ACB. The Torrejón de Ardoz native has played this season at Bueno Arenas Albacete, where after 33 games has been one of the best big men players in the competition (13th most valued player in the league, 7th if we count only centers and power forwards). Stats-wise for the team from La Mancha, Aurrecoechea has averaged 11 points and 7 rebounds. He is the 3rd best rebounder of the league currently.

This year has been his return to Spain after accumulating professional mileage around the world; after playing professionally in Chile (Colegio Los Leones de Quilpé, 2022 where he was runner-up in the National League) and Iceland in two teams (UMF Grindavik, 2021-22 and Thor Akuyeri, 2020-21), this, after his academic stage in USA. Aurrecoechea landed in the US to play Junior College in Indian Hills, where he was one of the best in the nation, and then go on a scholarship to New Mexico State. With the Aggies, Iván was a All-WAC First Team selection on his senior year, and also played for March Madness. Aurrecoechea ends up being one of the most outstanding Spaniards of the last decade in the NCAA D-1.

At Torrejón Basketball Academy from the age of five until he graduated as a Junior at eighteen, he had the aforementioned passage through the student youth academy in 2013-14 where he coincided with future NBA players such as Lucas Nogueira or Juancho Hernangómez. He later played LEB Plata in Guadalajara (2014-15) and was part of the Canarias Basketball Academy.

Aurrecoechea is already working with the Magariños team after formalizing his departure from Bueno Arenas Albacete Basket "once Day 33 of the category was played when the relegation of the green-and-black team was certified", and it is expected that he will be able to debut this May 19th against Juaristi ISB in the last day, before the postseason.
