Alex Robles: "This club means a lot to me"

Prensa TBS -

The Interview of the Month is introducing young people who elevate our project to new heights. Lives, stories, anecdotes and a lot of basketball. An important part of the Cadet squad that was galloping towards the Madrid playoffs, Alex was a fixture on the microphones of the academys press department to find out more about who he is, and where he is going.

Where does the Alex Robles story with basketball begin?

My story begins in Coslada, when friends told me to go try and see what I thought. I went with them, I had a good time and I knew from that day that it was my sport.

You have been a player in Torrejón basket for how long? For those who do not know you or have not seen you play on court, how would you describe yourself as a player? Deficiencies, virtues?

I have been on TBS for 2 years. I started my first year as a cadet when this club recommended me, I went to do the trials and I started to be part of the team. I consider myself a very strong player who is very firm when it comes to going to the rim. I move pretty well on the post and secure a lot of rebounds. My weak points I think would be decision making or on some occasions rush too much, but I will continue training to improve it as well as my shot.

What do you do off the court and what hobbies do you have? Fortnite, maybe? (Laughs).

What I usually do off the court is actually keep going to the courts in my neighborhood, really. I always think about basketball, but I also like hanging out with friends and play Fortnite, I have played more in the quarantine and now I play occasionally with friends.

What does Torrejón, the city, and the club mean to you?

Torrejón has become an important place for me today. I have met many people who are very important and very good friends. The club means a lot to me, since from the first day they have given me the confidence I needed to improve my game, they have taught me many things and I think that I have to thank the club, I have evolved a lot as a player.

Future goals in basketball?

My goal in basketball is to get to play for Real Madrid, which is my dream since I started playing this sport.

It has certainly been a pretty tough 2020, with a pandemic situation worldwide that to a greater or lesser extent affected a large part of humanity. How have they carried this at home, and you personally?

The truth is that it was a complicated situation that was not easy for anyone. At home we have managed well, within normal limits. Personally it has affected me a lot because my team was qualified to play the playoffs and we also had a tournament in Italy. I think it was a good year and we were at a very good level, we could have surprised a lot in the playoffs.

Tell us about the creativity you need to have to train during a pandemic, confined at home ...

From the first moment I already wanted to train at home so as not to lose my shape, in case there was any possibility of returning. It has also been easier thanks to my coaches who have passed me many exercise tables to do, in addition I also took the opportunity to train my boat, thanks to my coach who prepared a routine for me.

Academically where you are looking; What do you want to study at the university and why?

I am going to study Tafad, everything related to sports in a professional way. In college I will try to find a scholarship in the US and play that section there.

A tip to the new generations of torrejoneros players:

That they strive day by day, that they always try to improve and give the best of themselves in each training session, but above all that they enjoy basketball which is the most important thing.
